Auditions: Sunday, September 13th and Monday, September 14th. 6:00-9:00pm at The Keeton (108 Donelson Pike, Nashville). Callbacks, if needed, will be on Wednesday, September 17th

Please prepare 32 bars of a Broadway Golden Age or Disney Musical style song (tracks or sheet music, no a cappella). Everyone will learn a short dance combination and some people may be asked to do cold readings from the script.

SYNOPSIS

In this musical sequel to the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, we find a reformed Ebenezer Scrooge who is doing everything the ghosts had taught him. Why then does Jacob Marley bring the ghosts of Past, Present and Future back again on Christmas Eve a year later to haunt him once more? It turns out that they have one more thing they want to teach him – that he doesn’t need to be alone. They help him find his lost love, Belle, and try to reunite them! Both side-splitting and hopelessly romantic, Scrooge in Love! is the perfect holiday show for the whole family.

Characters

The same as A Christmas Carol, but a little cheekier.

Ebenezer Scrooge
(Male, Tenor, moves well) 

A happier, more lively version of the character we used to despise. A wide range of emotions, a quick wit, and a lovely singing voice. (Willing to cast a younger character actor who can be aged up.)

Jacob Marley
(Male, Tenor/High Baritone, moves well) 

Scrooge’s former business partner. Kind and well-meaning but serious about his mission. Has a beautiful ballad.

The Ghost of Christmas Past
(Female, High Soprano, moves well) 

Appears in the guise of a giddy, operatic, Victorian Music Hall chorus girl who is quite the romantic. Has a fun, light song that requires an operatic voice.

The Ghost of Christmas Present
(Male, Tenor/Baritone, moves well)

A larger-than-life, boisterous, good-natured fellow with an enormous ego.

The Ghost of Christmas Past/Dick Wilkins 
(Male, Baritone/Bass, moves well)

He’s the tall, silent type, but he gets in the spirit of things with the other ghosts. This actor will also play Young Ebenezer’s rival for Belle’s attention.

Belle Moorpark
(Female, Mezzo Soprano) 

The love of Ebenezer's life. She is a strong woman with a strong will. She is not easily won over or charmed. (This actress will play Belle both young and older.)

Young Ebenezer
(Male, Tenor, moves well)

Shy and reserved, instantly smitten with Belle.

Fred / Mr. Fezziwig
(Male, Tenor/Baritone, moves well)

Scrooge's optimistic well-to-do nephew / Scrooge's one-time employer who loves to celebrate!

Juliana / Mrs. Fezziwig
(Female, Soprano/Mezzo, moves well)

Fred's charming wife / Fezziwig's outgoing wife and life of the party.

Bob Cratchit
(Male, Tenor/Baritone, moves well) 

Former clerk, now partner. Full of love for his family and gratitude toward his employer.

Mrs. Cratchit
(Female, Mezzo/Alto, moves well)

Smart, strong. A loving wife and mother who wishes joy and happiness to Scrooge.

Tiny Tim
(Boy, 11-13)

Adorable and sweet. However, he is a year older and healthier than the original story.

Martha / Mabel
(Girl, 12-15)

Ideally, we’d like an even number of men and women so that Ebenezer is the only “single” person in town.
