SYNOPSIS
Conditions at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory are anything but peaceful as sparks fly between new superintendent, Sid Sorokin, and Babe Williams, leader of the union grievance committee. Their stormy relationship comes to a head when the workers strike for a 7 ½ cent pay increase, setting off not only a conflict between management and labor, but a battle of the sexes as well.
Featuring plenty of fun and splashy production numbers, including a comic "dream ballet," The Pajama Game is filled with standout featured roles and a large ensemble.
Characters
New Title
Sid Sorokin
(Male, 30-45, Baritone, B2-A4)
Handsome superintendent. New superintendent at Sleep Tite. He is a charming, productive worker. Adamant about retaining his job and improving his job performance. Some movement.
Babe Williams
(Female, 25-45, Mezzo-Soprano with Broadway belt, A3-F5)
Feisty union head. The leader of the Union Grievance Committee, who against her own will at first, falls in love with Sid. Strong, feisty, a little stubborn, and full of pride for the union but also charming and sensitive. The unspoken leader of the workers and women who work at the factory. Must move well.
Hines
(Male, 35+, Baritone, B2-F4)
Time study man at Sleep Tite. Funny, and he is the jealous type, but has a kind heart and a talent in knife-throwing. Surprisingly soft around the edges. Some movement.
Gladys
(Female, 25-45, Mezzo, G3-A5)
Mr. Hasler's secretary. Her penchant for nights out on the town, along with her sexy demeanor, often lands her in hot water with men. Quick-witted bookkeeper. A heavy dance role.
Prez
(Male, 25+, Tenor, C3-G4)
President of the union at Sleep Tite. He is not the brightest person. A notorious flirt and womanizer who constantly regrets his marriage. Must dance.
Mabel
(Female, 45+, Alto)
Sid's secretary. Her earnestness can occasionally melt into crassness, but she is always very aware of the happenings at Sleep Tite. Soft shoe dancer.
Myron Hasler
(Male, 45+, Non-singing)
The president at Sleep Tite. Fiscally conservative, he is demanding, stubborn, and uptight. He is keeping a secret from the entire company, except Gladys knows!
Pop

Babe's agreeable father.

Workers at Sleeptite. All must sing and dance well.
